Boston, Centenary Chapel (Wesleyan Methodist)

The first Wesleyan Methodist chapel in Boston was built in 1764 on the corner of Wormgate and Fountain Lane. It was replaced in 1808 by a new chapel on the corner of Red Lion Street and Chapel Street.
This in turn was replaced in 1840 by Centenary Chapel, which was built on a new site on Red Lion Street. The chapel was destroyed by fire in 1909 and rebuilt on the same site in 1911.

The chapel was in the following circuits at the dates indicated:
Lincolnshire Circuit was split in 1765, when Boston became part of the Lincolnshire East or Grimsby Circuit, 1765-1786
Horncastle Wesleyan Methodist Curcuit 1786-1802
Spilsby Wesleyan Methodist Circuit, 1802-1812
Boston Wesleyan Methodist Circuit, 1812-1932
Boston Centenary Methodist Circuit, 1932-1962
Boston Methodist Circuit, 1962-
