THIS AREA WAS MOSTLY DESTROYED BY BULLDOZING AND PLOUGHING TO CREATE RECENT MARKET GARDENS. {1} EXTENSIVE EARTHWORKS EXISTED PRIOR TO THIS. {2} MEDIEVAL AND POST MEDIEVAL POTTERY PLENTIFUL ON SURFACE. {3} VILLAGE WITH CHURCH WAS ALREADY SMALL IN 1334. POLL TAX RETURN OF 1377 GAVE AT LEAST 80 INHABITANTS IN MALTBY AND RAITHBY VILLAGES COMBINED. {4}
