Moulton Chantry House, Old Leake

Moulton Chantry House is a Grade II listed house built in about 1700.


The Multon or Great Chantry, at Old Leake is mentioned in 1391, and was dissolved in 1547 [PRN 12790]. The house, which was moated, was much altered and repaired about 1800. A stone font was taken from the remains of the moat about 1816. {1}{2}

Moulton Chantry House is 18th century in date. No earlier fabric could be identified. No information was gained regarding the font. {3}{4}

Moulton Chantry House is a Grade II listed house built in about 1700 which underwent alterations at a later date. The building was constructed in red brick with coped gables and brick end stacks. MOULTON CHANTRY, Old Leake. 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of F plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. The farmhouse is the only surviving historic structure. Located within a Church and/or Manor farm group. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {6}
