Biographical Notes:At the time of the 1901 census Alfred age 5 was living with his parents John and Elizabeth Williamson. His father John was a wagonner and farmer. Alfred had three brothers Thomas, Walter and George. His mother Elizabeth appears to have been widowed and remarried.

Notes:The battalion war diary enry for 2nd July 1916 reads : Orders received for Battalion to attack Fricourt 12.15 am attack launched. The action continued until 11th July when they were relieved by the 9th Leicesters. 7 officers killed and 7 wounded, 49 Other ranks killed and 246 wounded.
