Biographical Notes:AubreyArthur Bratton was the only son of Aubrey and Sarah Ann Bratton, of Hibaldstow. He was born 11th April 1917. He attended Hibaldstow school and later became a lorry driver for Mr William Harrison of Mill Lane, Hibaldstow. He married Edna Cook of Scotter at Scotter Church on 23rd September 1939. He was called up on 9th April 1940, but did not serve abroad until the Normandy landings in 1944. It is believed he was wounded around 19th June and died on 28th June 1944. His widow Edna was left with two young children Maureen Ann (age 2) and David Arthur (Age 9 months). The cause of his death was never established.
