Former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Cut End Road, Fishtoft

Former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel at Fishtoft, now in use as a house.

The former Wesleyan Methodist chapel is now in use as a house. The former chapel is a gabled building constructed from red brick with a slate roof and round-headed windows and door. The front elevation has a pedimented gable with clasping terminal pilasters and a gault brick gable eaves cornice with billet ornament. The gabled porch has the same decorative features but with the addition of paterae on the ridge tiles. The slate roof has metal finials. The side elevations are of 3 original bays, separated by brick pilasters, with red brick dentil eaves cornices but the building has been extended to the south by 2 further bays. The date tablet in the gable gives a date of 1867, though a documentary source records a Wesleyan chapel in Fishtoft built in 1842. {1}{2}{3}
