Description:
THWAITE HALL OF C18 MARKS THE SUPPOSED SITE OF A DOMESTIC BUILDING OF THE AUGUSTINIAN CELL OF THORNTON ABBEY. THIS WAS RECORDED IN 1440 AND WAS STILL IN EXISTENCE IN 1536. {1}{2} ACCORDING TO PEVSNER THE BUILDING HAS NOW BEEN SHOWN TO BE MUCH LATER.{3} MEDIEVAL POTTERY INCLUDING TOYNTON TYPE HAS BEEN FOUND AROUND THE SITE.
