Buy Images

Copies of documents can no longer be purchased directly through the website. Should you wish to buy a copy of a document that is listed on Lincs to the Past, please email the details of your request to archive.copies@lincolnshire.gov.uk and we will send you a Reprographics Order form to complete.

Making Payment:

Payments will not be taken until after your order has been completed by our Reprographics Department. Often we will not know the final cost until we have assessed your request, considered the size of the document and how many pieces it is comprised of.

When you order has been completed, you should expect to receive an email on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council requesting payment and providing a link to the secure WorldPay system. If you do not wish to use this system please indicate this on your order form and Business Support will contact you for payment.

Order forms and charges are reviewed annually on 1 April and are therefore subject to change.

How much will my order cost?

As collections held at Lincolnshire Archives include documents created over the last 1,200 years, their conditions and suitability for copying varies greatly. The techniques used to produce copies are determined by the format, dimensions, condition and preservation requirements of each original document. The cost of copies will vary according to the techniques that have been employed to produce the copy. Prices are set to cover the costs of materials, original digitisation and staff time.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide exact quotations but can advise on unit charges and guideline estimates. If you have an upper cost limit, please advise on your order form.

We are unable to provide copies of Wills after 1858. These are supplied by the Probate Registry at Leeds.

How long does an order take?

Ordinarily you should allow up to 28 days for your orders to be processed.

If you require a rush order (supplied withn 5 days minimum) please contact us to discuss charges and availability.

Are there any restrictions on how I can reproduce the image or its content?

All copies are made on the understanding that those who request them and subsequently retain them are aware of their responsibility to comply with the current law on copyright. Customers are obliged to sign the copyright declaration on the order form.

Copies are supplied for personal study and non-commercial use. You must send a signed order form to us before we can proceed with the order so that we can comply with copyright law.

Customers who intend to reproduce images supplied in any format or lengthy transcriptions should contact the Collections Development Officer (Archives) at lincolnshire.archives@lincolnshire.gov.uk

In some cases, the written permission of the depositer may have to be obtained before copies can be made. Letters granting permission must be addressed to Lincolnshire Archives.

You will need to provide details of the item concerned, the type of publication, print-run/circulation and commercial status. If permission is granted, you will be advised as to the fees and charges that apply. We will also supply you with an Application for Licence form, which you will be required to complete.
