Why was Lincs to the Past developed?
An inspection by the Audit Commission in 2008, highlighted the need to improve online access to cultural collections. In response to this, Lincolnshire County Council launched Cultural Collections in August 2009, which was a joint search engine for library, museum and archive online information. Since then the County Council have been looking to enhance this offer and significantly increase the number of images of cultural items (e.g. archive documents, maps, photographs) online and develop associated learning and exhibition packages.
I’m interested in having my content on Lincs to the Past?
The Culture service is always looking for partnership opportunities to help develop the site. We want the site to retain its focus and therefore we would be very interested in hearing from those groups involved local history, family history and heritage in particular.
Use of Adobe Flash Player
As of January 2021, Adobe Flash Player is no longer supported and therefore browsers are disabling and blocking the software for security reasons. Lincs to the Past can still be used as a catalogue to search our collections for documents of interest, but you will be unable to browse through our digital image collections or view photographs. We are aware of this issue, and work is underway to make the contents of Lincs to the Past available by other means. We aim to complete this project during Summer 2021.
