Why was Lincs to the Past developed?

An inspection by the Audit Commission in 2008, highlighted the need to improve online access to cultural collections. In response to this, Lincolnshire County Council launched Cultural Collections in August 2009, which was a joint search engine for library, museum and archive online information. Since then the County Council have been looking to enhance this offer and significantly increase the number of images of cultural items (e.g. archive documents, maps, photographs) online and develop associated learning and exhibition packages.

I’m interested in having my content on Lincs to the Past?

The Heritage service is always looking for partnership opportunities to help develop the site. We want the site to retain its focus and therefore we would be very interested in hearing from those groups involved local history, family history and heritage in particular.

How can I make images larger on my screen?

The images are displayed within a viewing box created by “Zoomify” software. The size of the viewing box on the webpage cannot be altered, but it is possible to increase its size on your screen.

For optimum viewing use your web browser‟s zoom facility (on Internet Explorer this is at the bottom of the screen to the right of the word “Internet”) to expand the size of the web page. Up to a 400% increase is good for early registers (pre 1813). Up to a 200% increase is good for later registers (post 1813). Pressing Ctrl and + or Ctrl and - will also increase and decrease the size of the web page.
