Personal Memories – Elizabeth Mossman
Dear Editor,
I’m sure it was a surprise for all of us evacuees to find ourselves scattered about the country, taken to a new home and getting to know our new foster mothers and fathers.
At first it was just like another holiday, but after a time a funny feeling of homesickness seemed to creep into me, and I hoped and prayed that the war would end.
But it was no use feeling down-hearted, and if we evacuees do stay out of London, I’m sure we will be doing our bit for the country as well as helping the government.
Letter written by Elizabeth Mossman for a competition in the News Chronicle for ‘the 50 best letters from evacuees’ telling their own stories.
